Corsica's mountainous, forested interior drops dramatically to turquoise coves and pink-granite coastlines, giving it a wilder, more rugged character than most Mediterranean islands. The GR20 long-distance trail is considered one of Europe's toughest and most rewarding hikes, but there's plenty for less ambitious travelers too, from boat trips along the Scandola Nature Reserve to relaxed beach days near Porto-Vecchio.
